Self-evident Truths & Firearm Safety
Gun-related deaths are the #1 cause of mortality among children for more than 3 years now. I propose we change this. Or else we have lost the future.

We must agree that the following truths are “self-evident”
Children should not be murdered, period. Children should not be murdered while attending school, watching a movie in a theatre, shopping in an outdoor mall, or walking home from an afterschool program.
To operate heavy machinery (such as cars, trucks, and trains), a person must show proof of competence, ability, and track record of being a safe operator.
When someone needs help because they are suffering and have thoughts of harming themselves or someone else, our community should provide them with effective and patient-centered treatment, while ensuring the person’s and the community’s safety.
It takes a village to raise a child or lose a child. Every person should have access to a neighborhood free of violence and especially gun violence.
These self-evident have been on my mind. Partly because there are certain undeniable rights a person needs to be afforded. Yet, it seems that we are still far from this questionably aspirational goal.
Over the next few weeks, each post will be dedicated to the truths above and as they relate to firearm injury prevention.
I am not advocating the removal of guns. I am advocating for ensuring that our communities, families, and best friends are not the victims of gun violence - intended or unintended. I am advocating for firearm safety and injury prevention.
Why?
Gun-related deaths are the #1 cause of mortality among children for more than 3 years.
I propose we change this. Or else we have lost the future.
Please join me in learning about a few keep policies on firearms that can be parts of a solution that is much needed and overdue.
